Today, we visited the Macclesfield Treacle Market and can offer you a lesson on how not to buy a new car, not that you can actually buy a car (or treacle) at this interesting and bustling market!
The Treacle market occurs on the last Sunday of each month and is well worth a visit if you enjoy unique crafts, exceptional food & drink and vintage finds. After buying ourselves some fine socks, chicken and chorizo paella, meatballs, home made cheesecake, some tasty pies and a couple of books we headed back to the car.
We’re looking to replace a car of ours for something more fitting to the rural life and noticed a nice looking Toyota Land Cruiser at a garage. As it turned out the car belonged to the owner of the garage and wasn’t for sale. By sheer coincidence Agnieszka and I had been talking about buying and trying some game. The garage owner actually had a couple of crates of partridges in the back of the Toyota and handed us a brace for sale for £3. We didn’t have any cash on us but the used car garage owner gave them to us free of charge.
That’s rural life for you and we love it !!!
I have wanted to have a go at plucking and gutting a ‘bird’ for quite a while. Now I have 4 waiting for me so I’d better get going!
