Project Description
A local farmer keeps his sheep on our fields – it’s an arrangement that we honour from the previous owner of Axe Edge Green Farm. We could, if we wanted, charge a small rent but to us this goes against living in a rural community where everyone helps everyone else.
The benefits of hosting his sheep are: we don’t need to cut 10 acres of grass and we get to see newly born lambs in spring! And it’s one of the most beautiful sights ever.
There are between 20-45 ewes and lambs in our fields at any point in a year. Lambing happens a bit later than in other areas (guess why!), between end of April – end of May.
